Orbitel, Phone to receive first text message

The Historic Phone which received the first ever text message sent.

The first text message ever was sent through engineer Neil Papworth of the mobile messaging and wireless infrastructure company “Sema” (now Airwide Solutions) to director of Vodafone, Richard Jarvis in United Kingdom.

The first text was sent over Vodafone network in the U.K. on 3/10/1992 from a computer to an Orbitel 901 handset.

The content of first text was very simple and it said “Merry Christmas”.
