facebook acquires face.com
After Instagram , the social networking giant has acquired Face.com , an Israel Facial recognition Firm towards strengthening its photo sharing interface.
“Facebook has acquired Face.com,”-face.com Founder Gil Hirsh said on his blog. The bid amount is undisclosed yet.
The Israel Company already has an iTunes application called Klik that lets users tag their Facebook friends easily and quickly.
“We love building products, and like our friends at Facebook, we think that mobile is a critical part of people’s lives as they both create and consume content, and share content with their social graph. By working directly with Facebook and joining their team, we’ll have more opportunities to build amazing products that will be employed by consumers – that’s all we’ve ever wanted to do.” -as announced on face.com official blog post .

CEO Gil Hirsch indicated that he and his team would be focused on building out Facebook’s mobile products.
Face.com runs a facial recognition software that scans billions of photos monthly. It helps people tag their own photos quickly and easily and discover new photos of them and their friends that they knew never existed.
It seems that after the two recent acquisitions, facebook is highly interested in enhancing its photo sharing platform and it may give facebook a slight increase in its public offering.
